An Evening of Blue


  During the Summer of 2017 I released a self-published anthology of horror stories, called An Evening of Blue and Other Grim Yarns. This website was the output of an attempt at creating a landing page out of a diarama web component and a tap-through reading interface containing the title story, An Evening of Blue.

HTML file to Multipage Static Site

Bloom CLI


I use a program called Ulysses that lets you export a group of sheets as an HTML file. I wrote a program that splits this file into a bunch of pages with links that go back to the index file. With options.

Install is \`npm i -g bloom-cli\` and \`bloom\` from inside the folder with the exported index.html file.


Purchasing Interface for Card Shop

Controller Enabled Card Game Engine

Cardi-O


The goal with the cardi-o project is to come up with a card game engine that allows for importing different decks and different rulesets and environments for card games. It would load the deck, apply the rules for the game to the runtime, maybe drop in a random opponent. There could be a menu of these types of games.

The character you face in this demo is called The Blue King. He's a transdimensional interloper who challenges you to a card game. Think small to win!

**Goals:**  
 * "Realistic" deck shuffling and dealing
 * Load different decks, play with different rules
 * Switch between games
 * Card manipulation with keyboard and mouse 

**Rules of the demo below**: 
 * Match suits to remove the last two cards and add the combined value to your score
 * Match values to clear the board and get the values of all the cards on the board
 * Each time a match is made the other player draws a card
 * First player to exhaust their hand of cards wins

Letterloom


What started as "PasteFork" in 2011, created over a weekend following the 2011 jQuery conference. Soon the application became Letterloom,
and began to take on its own form. Continuously iterated on since, the current version of Letterloom is a writing environment as a platform, and is positioned to compete in the free publishing and free writing application spaces.

Tap-through Story Interface

Tapestry (Tap a Story)


As part of my book launch process for _An Evening of Blue and Other Grim Yarns_, I wanted to make an application that would take a page of text and turn it into a traversable interface where you can read it big at your own pace, without knowing how much text there actually is.

**Features:** Night mode, speak-as-you tap so you don't have to look at the screen to read the story, automatic text sizing, long paragraphs are broken into sentences, many ways to trigger story advancement.

**How it works:** The Markdown file is loaded in, then rendered to HTML through the react-markdown package. In order to access the output HTML after it's rendered (without rewriting the markdown package to give us the output we want), we select the DOM nodes with jQuery and apply contextual and visibility classes to them, and the rest is controlled by CSS, Fastclick and keyboard shortcuts.

Advance: Space, right arrow, tap, click

Time-Reactive Video Playing Interface

Whether.TV


The goal of the whether.tv project was to create a time-reactive video player that recognized the time, what day of the week it was, and would play slotted video media on a schedule. The plan is to make it a fully programmable weekly program.

**Goals**
* 24 hours of continuous content
* Allow for weekly time slots
* Add routing for channels and shows
* Allow for more content sources (Youtube)

* Uses Vimeo and Vimeo player API
* Automatically plays the next show

A Motivational Writing Tool

Write Carrot


WriteCarrot is a tool for providing writers with continual motivation, affirmation, and dopamine, like a video game. WriteCarrot uses auditory and visual cues.

A writer starts at Level 1 and gains a level for every hundred words they put in the editor. Every level changes the background color. The background color darkens until Level 10, and every level thereafter is a random color. Levels completed show up as boxes. There are timers to utilize as well, a stopwatch and a countdown, to  create a sense of urgency for writing sprints.
